Patriots Final Roster Cuts Featuring Gratuitous Pictures of Kristina Akra

The Patriots made their final cuts Saturday to get their roster down to the 53 player limit. In addition to a couple of injury list moves, here are the players released:
DL Titus Adams
CB Fernando Bryant
TE Tyson DeVree
S Mark Dillard
C Mike Flynn
RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
QB Matt Gutierrez
LB Victor Hobson
LB Vince Redd
CB Mike Richardson
T Stephen Sene
S Antwain Spann
DL Santonio Thomas
G John Welbourn
My first reaction to these moves is that the Patriots were serious... dead serious... heart attack serious... about getting younger and faster on defense. They had seven draft picks this year, and the only offensive player among them was QB project Kevin O'Connell. Of the remaining six, Ruud was placed on IR and the rest all made the club. This is especially remarkable given the fact that out of the class of 2007, only Brandon Merriweather even made the team. Richardson was IR'ed and all the other picks were chummed. If the five defensive picks stick, along with O'Connell, and the Pats contend this year, it'll be easy to make the case that this was the best draft class since 2003 brought Ty Warren, Eugene Wilson, Asante Samuel, Dan Koppen and Tully Banta-Cain. Anyway, click here to read some thoughts about how the 2008 roster breaks down...
Fuckin Pedroia!

5 foot nothin', 100 and nothin', and barely a speck of athletic ability. Yup he's Dustin Pedroia and he's the MVP of the league this year...
even as a non red sox fan, I cannot argue. all hail dustin
Fuckin kid is amazing.
david,
michigan looked good today.
I agree with the sizing, but how the hell can you call him un-athletic at second?
hes havin a great year but be serious, its either hamilton or quentin or maybe k-rod
sox nation is geigh
it is also gay and pathetic to post at this hour, but those hookers are never on time
hamilton's team is a million games out of contention, quentin is having an amazing year but its all for nothing if they dont go to the postseason
Can we please define "athletic ability?" I'd say Dustin has a ton, he just wasn't born in an athlete's body. Imagine how good he'd be if he was.
Junkies i.e. Hamilton, don't get MVP's. I don't care how heart warming his story is.
K-rod, possibly. Pedroia, possibly.
EP is quoting a line from RUDY, don't take the "speck of athletic abiity" line literally.
I have never been so wrong on a player in my life. I thought he was going to be a failure. I thought the second baseman of the future would be Lowrie. His first September call up and the start of last season I thought confirmed my opinion of him. He has made me a believer and has become one of my favorites to watch. A gamer in every sense of the word. He has solidified a position that had been a disaster for the Sox. They has like 7 different 2B in the previous 7 years. Something like that.
Hey pres..you're ass is showing.
quentin, hamilton, krod, hell even Cliff Lee are shaking their heads at your blatant homerism.
Hamilton might be most outstanding player, but not MVP. his team sucks so hes out. Im not one for pitchers winning MVP, they have their own award. to me its down to quentin and pedroia and youk.
don't forget about Lowell, Tek and Lester
Everybody go, hotel, motel, holiday inn!!!
What can I say? When he's hot he's hot. And he's on fire!
How is it that I just learned that Erin Andrews is from Lewiston, Maine? Guess she's not proud of her past.
Can't wait for the Pedroia clutch at-bat today in the 9th when he grounds out or Ks...thank prez.
I already wish the Pedroia as MVP and next Sox Captain thing wasn't getting any attention. It's better that way.
chav's mom,
Thank you! That's like the most obvious quote of all time...
The only way I see this game ending good today is if Youk can come off the bench to pinch hit a game winner to remind us that he might be the MVP.
Junkies i.e. Hamilton, don't get MVP's.

Says who? Keith Hernandez says 'Hello'. And he's only one of many. Learn your history, young Skywalker.
"Can't wait for the Pedroia clutch at-bat today in the 9th when he grounds out or Ks...thank prez."
great call
Ken Caminiti?
.327
15 home runs
68 RBIS
.862 OPS
Yup, those are MVP numbers alright.
You're forgetting that more then just pure batting numbers are considered for MVP. If it went solely on batting then Ortiz would have won it a few years back, but because he was a DH he only finished 3rd or 4th I think it was.
tuffnutz- you're no lugnutz that's for sure.
No im not, The only reason Ortiz was in the conversation was because he had the numbers, he was a a DH so he didnt win the award. If he didnt have the numbers he would of not even been in the discussion.
There is NO way Dustin is more valuable to the red sox then Youk.
my mvp voting..
1. Carlos Quentin
2. Kevin Youkilis
3. The Entire Angles pitching staff.
IMO Youk has been the MVP for the Sox this season. Need a 4 hole hitter...check. Gold glove at either corner.....check. Not to take away the fantastic year Pedroia is having, but with issues for both Manny, and Ortiz, all year, Youk has been the go to guy.
ikilpatr bwhahahaha.....Tuffnutz has better stuff then that, it was just really late.
True story
MVP? He's a bad ass but I highly doubt he will get the MVP. It will be K rod after he breaks the save record. Take your blinders off.
He's no Soto. See ya in the series. Go Cubs.

Yep, el presidente, you are correct. Just got home from the game and it was soooo sweet to hear the joint chanting "MVP!" when he was intentionally walked. The cherry on the Jim Dandy was the douchebag down below us sporting the DiMaggio t-shirt witnessing it all.
BTW... The parade of potential Smokeshows of the Day on Commonwealth Ave was Must See T&A. School's in brother!
